Mike Patton Discusses His Work On Movies "I Am Legend" + "A Perfect Place"

Posted about 1 year ago
The MovieWeb published a great interview with Mike Patton last month that's definitely worth a read by fans of his music or movie buffs alike. The interview focuses mostly on the voice work that Patton did for the movie I Am Legend, plus the music score that he composed for the upcoming movie A Perfect Place. (Patton is responsible for the creepy sounds that come out of the infected vampiric humanoids.) The Perfect movie score includes some orchestral pieces of course, but also features a ragtime ballad and a "pop" song with Patton's vocals on each. A Perfect Place is a very short film by Derrick Scocchera. In fact, I'm told that the soundtrack is actually longer than the film! According to MovieWeb, the plot, "revolves around a pair of bumbling friends trying to dispose of a corpse." Cool! After reading the interview, I really don't understand how Patton finds the time to do it all. I'm constantly seeing reports of his new albums and tours with countless bands that he is a major part of (Fantomas, Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, etc.) and here he is admitting that he made each "thirty-millisecond piece of music" heard as a character in the movie flips through radio stations as part of his score for the movie. He also made an "operatic" track that is heard coming from the character's Victrola record player, a song that "is not really even part of the score," has never been released and probably never will!Scope the full interview on MovieWeb. As with all things Pattonated, thanks to Ipecac for the heads up!I Am Legend Trailer: (listen to that horrific scream at the end, that's Patton!)Tomahawk:
