Lou Reed Chosen As Keynote Speaker At SXSW 2008

The keynote speaker for the 2008 SxSW Music Conference and Film Festival has just been announced - it will be LOU REED! The former Velvet Underground frontman and successful solo artist will kick off the music festival on March 13th with a keynote address. A screening of the documentary, "Lou Reed's 'Berlin' " a film by Julian Schnabel, will be held in conjunction with the keynote speech. The film documents a recent performance of the landmark 1973 album.South by Southwest, the annual music festival/industry conference in Austin, Texas, will be held from March 12th until March 16th 2008. Other speakers lined up include Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Daryl Hall (Hall & Oates) and Seymour Stein (prez of Sire Records).   1. BerkeleyBob says I would be interested in seeing the live Berlin 2007 on DVD. Please, please, Santa.Lou Reed is a remarkable performer who still has a lot to say and contribute. One of his recent live albums has him lecturing the audience on the riff to his hits, very funny. BerkBob
