Lyrics Born Releases New Album On ANTI- In March

Lyrics Born returned to the studio in between performances at the summer's big music festivals and touring with Southern funk band Galactic. The album he produced is called Everywhere At Once and it will be his first release on ANTI- instead of his own independent label, Quannum Projects. The album features appearances from Chali 2na and RJD2 and will be available on March 18th, 2008.
Japanese native, longtime Bay Area resident, Tom Shimura specializes in diverse influences. He's not only built a name for himself as an MC, but also as a seminal hip hop promoter as label-founder of Quannum Projects. QP has launched the music of DJ Shadow, Gift of Gab and Blackalicious. But back to his MC skills: The Boston Globe reports, "Lyrics Born writes hip-hop that rocks - and old-school funk that doesn’t forget the backbeat as it utilizes everything from classic rap to dancehall." A press release about the album says the new album incorporates elements from reggaeton, RnB, pop and hip hop. Lyrics Born fans are also familiar with his collaborations with Galactic, both on their new album and on tour. This combination brings out a smoother, more flowing style that is also evident on the new album. "Shimura draws from funk, reggae and rock, even as he blurs their distinctions," writes Rolling Stone.
