Duran Duran Video Banned From UK TV

Posted over 4 years ago
Duran Duran made a solid comeback with the upcoming release of Red Carpet Massacre and the recent launch of its first video for the song "Falling Down." The video portrays the trend of models/starlets going to rehab for a week and then returning to a life of luxury. However, someone in the UK does not approve. The video has been banned from UK television as "too controversial" and the band is forced to film a tamer version to air in the UK. According to NME:
The concept of models in rehab has so much to do with what the song's about," frontman Le Bon told NME.COM when they were shooting the video. "It's very sad but there's a kind of beauty in it as well," he added.
NMEYoutube has already taken down the video that was originally posted on MOG, but dailymotion still has it:

  1. asanmiguel19 says Whoa, that's a crazy video. It's sad what people do just to be thin and beautiful.

  2. dermahrk says Interesting, but not sure I see the reason this is considered controversial. Thanks.

  3. Max Load says Well le Bon is/was married to a supermodel. I don't think many people spotted that Duran Duran's video for Wild Boys was heavily based on the Burroughs book of the same name. And I recall there was some interesting dark imagery tucked away in the lovely fluffy Save A Prayer (?) video too.
