WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Ride the spiral to the end

Posted over 3 years ago
I have never listened to so much Tool in my ENTIRE life. See, I am writing the aforementioned essay on Jungian theory and Tool. For my inspiration, I have been listening to the songs that I feel represent what I am talking about. Over and over again, its been Parabol/Parobola, Forty-six & 2 and Lateralus, one after the other. I've decided that along with the essay and quotes from the songs, I am going to put the tracks to disc, so she can actually here what it is that I am talking about. If the professer feels me on this...sees where I am coming from, this will be the best piece I have ever written. If she can't open her mind and see the connections I am making...I will loose 25% of my mark and thus demolish my high standing in the course.Wish me luck. I'll be here writting until tomorrow night, then I've got to hand it in on Tuesday.

  1. Loreleileonard says Good luck! I've only heard mention of the theory you're discussing, and I don't remember what it was exactly, so I can't honestly say that I understand what you're trying to do. But, coming from a cinema studies background, I think it's increasingly important for students to make an effort to connect older theories to newer works otherwise there will be a huge disconnect between past and present. So, again, bonne chance!

  2. admorobo says It sounds like a really cool idea. Music in general seems very conducive to Jungian theory, and Tool certainly plays with a lot of obtuse imagry that still seems connected to somthing very real, and therefore sort of terrifying. Good luck with the project!
