Koglmann's homage to Ellington

Posted over 4 years ago

...an hybrid of classic jazz and classical modernism.

The Austrian trumpeter believes that jazz, as an active and developing genre is dead.

This doesn't rule out that great jazz may still be created, but that it now requires to move in new directions.

...He manages to marry his love for the West Coast cool jazz with elements from European modern and classic music composers, especially Franz Schubert, Alban Berg and Anton von Webern

  1. Girlcrawl says Resoundingly beautiful; was only vaguely aware of Koglmann, and am off to further explore this fabulous composer. Thanks for posting both the track and thoroughly informative review. Cheers!!
