Born in Leipzig in 1944. He studied and performed as a classical pianist through his teens and then worked with his brother, clarinetist Rolf Kuhn.He is best known for virtuosic solo and duo performances in which he calls upon a wide range of advanced compositional ideas and a broad palette of sound derived from his interest in playing direct on the piano strings.
