Released in 1981, Hannibal Records

...Such musicians as pianist Jaki Byard, vibraphonist Dave Samuels, guitarist Bill Frisell, soprano-saxophonist Steve Lacy, trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and bands headed by Carla Bley, Muhal Richard Abrams and David Amram are heard from on these eccentric but very musical adaptations of Rota's themes from Fellini movies.

    Spike says fistula spuma is right about that album cover. Has there ever been a better one? Was this the first tribute album to a composer featuring only new specially commissioned recordings? Now they're everywhere. The last time I talked to the head of Hannibal Records, I forgot to remind him to reissue this album, or else, as well as the other tribute albums he produced. It could be because it was at his book signing, and I had confused him with his brother, and I was too embarrassed to remember anything at that point. ~k5HFnfO6lxQ.mp3~

    Jonh Ingham says The first album Hannibal put out. Which is proof that Joe Boyd thought about music first and business second. Great album, and great poster for one of the greatest films ever. If you ever get the chance to see it in a theatre, make sure you go. Mindblowing and totally different from DVD.
