So a friend of mine emails me a link to Cocorosie's performance of Sunshine. Takes me awhile to realize she's not sinigng in French, well, maybe she is, who knows, but her voice is precious and ethereal, like Bjork with some random piano tinklings and such. I kinda like it so I go searching around online, have some time to kill tonite. They sound like a too hip art band from NY, performance art, "installations" and somber pics of Dust Bowl houses, random objects in white warehouses, they get reviewed by something called Vegan News of Brooklyn or what have you. Guess I'll see how the tunes pan out when I get the CD. I'm not too subtle or all that aesthetically oriented, so am I allowed to listen and like this music?
They seem to be like New freak folk with lots of side projects and interlocking relationships. The only comparison I have is its like looking at the pages of the marriages in town and country, you know that these folks are all related and connected by something but being the middlebrow burb dweller that I am, I am fairly certain I'm not discerning the connections...
Intersesting websites though, I give the kids credit for that.

There's def some pretensioso going on, but I am on the enchanted side of the spectrum when it comes to C.R. Then again, I love the "Amelie" soundtrack and old Piaf and Trenet recordings, too.
I think I have heard them somewhere... Very cool post. Will need to check 'em out a little more.
Just heard back from the Ministry of Subtleness, Aesthetics, Hipness, Smartness, and Culture, and YES, you are allowed to fancy this all the way! :)
Well, you're more than welcome to dig it, but I'm afraid I'm leaning towards the other end of the spectrum on this one.
Fingernails on a chalkboard.
love me some new music to try and get into, the video got me wanting more
That's the second time I have adamantly agreed with Groon (that I know of) in a recent post......her voice REALLY irritated me, but to each their own!
@Anna, thank you for admititng me into the hipster pantheon. (is that Greek?)
And I'm kinda looking forwrd to the cd my friend is sending... not sure if this will be a small dose kind of band, or something that can go on heavy rotation...
Hey, I'm a pretty agreeable guy . . .
It's Greek, yes, but we eat hipsters for breakfast, nonetheless :)
