WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Un Dia, Juana Molina

Posted about 1 year ago

Loving this new release from Juana Molina! Found the title track here on Stereogum.

If you're not familiar, imagine Bjorkand Feist growing up listening to a lot of Stereolab and set loose in a South American soundstage and an unnamed jungle. Loops and wild animal calls, acoustic guitars and electronic beeps.

You can find more on her own website here.

Before her recording career she was a huge sitcom star in her native Argentina.

Also really digging this song, "Micael" from Son:

This is different... I like it tho. Has some cool elements to it. I love all the sounds she brings to the song.  It totally rocks.

These two are a bit more energetic than on Tres Cosas.  I enjoy that album but it's awfully quiet and calm, almost ambient.   No idea what she's singing about but I'm hoping I can pick up some Spanish if I listen to it often enough!

She has crossed my orbit a few times recently, I will have to get this. Very nice. I am continuously reminded that I need to learn Spanish.

Yes, I need to track this cd down as well,,, i just have this song and some stuff from her website.  And Spanish,,, well yeah,,, the foster family who cared for our son before we brought him home email us regularly, and while Google Translate isn't bad, it still misses some things, so yeah, thats a resolution for me too!
