WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Jay-Z is the hegemon, and The Game is North Korea, says NPR dude.

Posted 4 months ago

Caught this this morning on NPR in which foreign policy is compared to hip-hop beefs. A professor at G Washington U in DC talks about how the dominant unipolar world can be represented by Jay-Z, and the lesser powers gain soft power by attacking the hegemon, and thus drawing attention. An old political tactic, Nixon used it in the 50s to get himself taken seriously as a contender.

This link has a summary of the interview. You can also listen to the broadcast.

This link has Lynch's own essay on the topic.
