MOG MOG

WHERE MUSIC IS WORTH MORE THAN MONEY

(39)

OK, all you Jon Brion fans (for the uninitiated, Jon is an extremely talented musician / producer who has been responsible for the best recordings of Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, The Mommyheads, etc. etc. - lately doing a lot of soundtracks)

I have several bootlegs by the Grays and Jon Brion, and this is one of my favorite tracks that he has never officially released.

I don't expect to get a lot of plays with this - just those with good taste :)

MAN, I love this song! My head was goin' faster than a bobble doll!

It is FILLED with powerpop goodness!

jon brion did officially release this track, albiet in a much less rock-y form on the 'i heart huckabees' soundtrack. there's also a lot of wonderful live versions of it floating around.

Well, that is a surprise to me! I thought I bought all of the tracks with Jon's vocals from the Huckabees soundtrack. Guess I missed this one. Onward...to iTunes!

Love Brion! Great track. I became aware of his work when I fell in love w/the movie "Magnolia" & the collabo w/Aimee Mann(which was my intro to her solo work too). He has such a unique sound that is unmistakable regardless of who he works with.

Nice. Reminds me a lot of mid Elvis Costello. His voice has that same drawl.

i have had the pleasure of seeing Jon Brion recently at a Largo gig. To hear the music he's made and then to see him compose it on the spot, playing everything is one of the most memorable moments in music for myself. In fact Largo itself could only host such an intimate event. A documentary is on the way about Largo. Search Largo Film it has some clips of Jon playing. Thanks for the post.

I'm jealous, being on the wrong coast to catch him at Largo's. I have a couple of bad bootlegs of his performances there, but will have to check out the vids.
