The impact of The Everly Brothers on popular music is a large one. Not only were they hitmakers in the 50s and early 60s, they were an early blend of country, rock and pop. Their sibling harmonies inspired hundreds of musicians, including Lennon and McCartney, Nick Lowe and Dave Edmunds (who recorded an EP of their songs that was a giveaway with the sole Rockpile LP), and too many others to count. I bought their box set "Heartaches And Harmonies", and found this gem, which I had never heard before. I think it was released as a single and it is only 2 minutes long - I kind of wished they'd stretched it out. It's over too soon. Here's "Like Strangers"One of the first songs I can remember liking in the 1950s as a child was "Crying In The Rain". Here's a video of them performing the song in the 1980s in the "Reunion Concert" that was shown on HBO. That program, which blew me away, caused me to start snapping up Everly Brothers material.

Ya know, as much as I love Buddy Holly, I never got into the Everly Brothers near as much despite loving everything I've ever heard. You've got me thinking about getting that box set into my rotation. Great tune. Thanks!

Buying Dave Edmunds, for one. I love his version of this (better than the author's, Elvis Costello). Besides that? Working as a bookkeeper in the slums of West Philadelphia, going to night school at Wharton to become a CPA, and smoking everything all the time....lol!
