Hound Dog Taylor and Little Walter

Posted over 2 years ago
I may not be an expert on the blues, but here are two of my favorites, Hound Dog Taylor (vocals and guitar) and Little Walter (harmonica...DUH!) doing a sweet little number together.

  4. aclason says Nice video, D. I had the Natural Boogie album. The liner notes said something like "he couldn't play for shit, but he sure made it sound good!'

  5. Girlcrawl says Fabulous post dermahrk - Thanks so much! What do you guys say to a 'blues day post', or does that already take place in the Mog-O-Sphere? Enjoyed.

  6. dermahrk says I would be in favor of it. There are at least four of us posting blues onto the Mog-O-Sphere. Maybe we could RULE THE WORLD!

  9. Spike says At first I thought this song was a cover of Little Walter's "Can't Hold Out Much Longer" from 1952, which, after an amazing harp intro, has the lyrics, "I'm crazy about you, baby," but then I realized that the melody and the rest of the lyrics are not the same. But it did lead me to re-listen to Ike & Tina Turner's 1969 cover of Little Walter's version, this time titled "Crazy 'Bout You Baby," and notice that the label credits it to W. Williamson. Sure enough, Sonny Boy Williamson II's first Trumpet label record is "Crazy About You Baby" (1951) with a melody not terribly close to Little Walter's but closer to Hound Dog Taylor's. Even so, I wish Little Walter had started out this video with his intro to "Can't Hold Out Much Longer."
