After 4 years apart, during which time Danny released a new CD and two EPs of demos while Phil recorded with his band Thrush, The Rembrandts got back together in 2000 and began putting songs together for a new album, Lost Together. So far, this is the last of their albums of new material. Hopefully it will not be the final one.
The songs were first released in April 2001 by the MP3.com site - the same one that had issued Danny's two demo EPs. Again, available as MP3s or as a cheaply-packaged CD. Since this was the first release, it's the one I own.
Note the picture that was used. Phil has his shortest haircut ever, and Danny's visage is the same one that was cropped out, turned a bit sideways, and served as the cover for his EP Scragglers (see segment 13).
Later that year, in October 2001, it had a second release to U.S. stores and distributors on the J-Bird label. Identical track list, identical cover. The J-Bird label has since gone out of business, so new copies are not that easy to find.
Finally, in March 2003, it was released for the third time to international markets on the Atenzia label. This time the cover was altered, with a larger black border and the band logo used on their first two U.S. releases was added.
In doing research for this post, I found that this release had a 13th track "I'm In Love" not present on any other release. So of course it is now on order from the UK and will wing its way to me hopefully next week and may be posted on MOG before too long.
The songs on the CD have more of a low-key acoustic nature on many tracks and I have to say it is not quite as strong as their earlier releases. About 2/3 of the songs are keepers for me and remain on the iPod. I'm including my three favorites in this post, with "Too Late" at the top of this post and two more in Comments.
Next: the penultimate post (for now) - two best-of compilations are released in '05 and '06 - one re-recorded and one from prior releases.

Here's the song Long Way To Go from Lost Together:
And another, Buddy Jo:
Both great cuts musically - but I'm not as in to the lyrics...
OK. This write up is almost better than the tracks presented.
Musically **Buddy Jo** is more arresting, an immediate sound.
Dig it!
