The MOVE - box set rarity #4 and Brontosaurus
-
Artist:

(The early Mod days pictured above - Roy Wood in canary yellow.) I'm going to wrap up my little Move-a-thon with a couple more tracks from the box set I've been enjoying. Their single "Brontosaurus" was played a wee bit on AOR in the 1970s I remember - but still pretty unknown in the USA. I assume it was a hit single on the UK pondside. You have just GOT to love a song with the somewhat silly phrase "She can really do the Brontosaurus"!
The early Move was more R&B oriented, much like the early days of The Who. Here's a live performance of Piece of My Heart . This version rescues the song from the dregs of my musical memory, screamed by Janis Joplin - whom I never cared for.

fantastic version of piece of my heart, poppy perfection, never heard this before, thanks!
always liked this song.--Brontosaurus that driving bass Do Ya was the only single to chart in US. according to wiki they played two shows in 1969 with the stooges one in Detroit and one in LA. tour cancelled after that.
Really cool!
Both are good. I like the call-and-response between voice and guitar in "Brontosaurus."
I really love the aggressive bass playing in The Move. It formed an important part of their sound, something to compete with the vocal onslaught.
After relistening, I heartily agree with you about the bass playing.
Very cool!
