Lit: Pop-Punk an old man can get comfortable with

Posted about 1 year ago
I posted yesterday about the film ??Orange County??, and Rock and Roll Pimp answered my question (Thanx!). That same film introduced me to the music of *Lit*. The track featured in the movie so impressed me that I began collecting their CDs, and ??Four??, the track above, is my favorite from their third CD. I know it's rather shocking that I'm listening to something from a band that's only been recording music since '97, but one listen to the power and melody behind this song will lead you to understand. As a band, Lit has been around since 1990, and the quartet is fronted by two brothers, vocalist Jay Popoff and sibling/guitarist Jeremy. Their best two CDs are their third and fourth, ??A Place In The Sun?? and ??Atomic??, if you are seeking the kind of melody-laden pop-rock that floats my boat. Although I also purchased their first two releases, they seem to be more punk/hardcore oriented (??5 Smokin' Tracks from Lit?? and ??Tripping The Light Fantastic??), the first one so much so that it is now owned by my local library. Their latest but eponymous CD, released in 2004, was not as engaging as the prior two, but hopefully another is on the way. This may not be a band I ever see live, as they tend to frequent the festivals and toilets like the Electric Factory here in Philly since they have a younger following. I like to sit. In a padded chair. And rest my weary old bones. And, to engage the attention of dirty old (and young) men everywhere, here's their video of ??Miserable??, where they are playing on my favorite stage - the body of Pamela Anderson. And, if you still with me, a video featuring Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, which starts off referencing their most famous video, but with Dee in the father role. Hope you like!
