IMHO, Seasick Steve is the best "new" blues artist to come around in a long time. Generally, once you leave the Wolf/Muddy era, I lose interest. But a sample track on a UK Magazine CD alerted me, and I finally sprung for one of the two import CDs available. For some reason, Steve has seen NO U.S. releases.
"One True" is typical SS, and it's about loving your dog, which is always a topic that I respond to. I'm also attaching a couple of videos. I think Steve's public debut was on Jools Holland's show (formerly of Squeeze). Not sure if this is the first sight of Steve, but here ya go:
And here he is doing the title track from my recent purchase.
My MOG presence has been slight lately - tending to my wife's broken femur, joined a little band with Ivylander, working harder (and getting paid less). Didja miss me?

Great stuff. (as he adds it to the ever expanding list)
good stuff!!
SS is great! Kinda like Stompin' Tom - George Thoroughgood - and John Lee Hooker all rolled into one. Diggin' it!!!
Most people in the UK agree with you. He has a big following here!
Yes, the obsessive British seem to be much more in tune with American blues artists than we are. This is unexplainable by me, but at least SOMEONE is rewarding Steve, who has a new one out I now have to get.
