WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

The Hollies sing about Armageddon - it's catchy!

Posted about 1 year ago
One of my favorite obscure tracks of the Hollies comes from perhaps my favorite (U.S. version) of their albums called ??*Hear! Here!*??The song ??Very Last Day??, is about the end of the world and God taking that final roll call. So I wanted to find out more about it, and discovered it was written by Peter Yarrow and Paul Stookey, who started Peter Paul Mounds! Nah, just kidding – from Peter Paul & Mary. Turns out they recorded it as an album track on “In The Wind”, which was probably a fairly big seller for them. Since I have never owned a PP&M record (and this is not likely to change) I had no idea the song was theirs. One of these days I am going to post something about modern music – maybe next week (yeah, right….)

  3. uncle creepy says Nice to hear the studio version of this, I was more familiar with the Beat Club video of The Hollies doing it live. Lots of trad folk and bluegrass touch on religious themes but don't seem like they're preaching...
