For aching heads - a soft and beautiful version of Auld Lang Syne

Posted about 4 years ago
My favorite version ever - a hint of synthesized strings, but mostly just Stephen Bishop and his acoustic guitar.

The Bish has always been a class act. He's been on our show quite a few times and we're looking forward to having him on the air again with his latest release.

  3. dermahrk says Michael - next time he's on your show - tell him to get his ass to Philly and do a live show - please. These are rarer than hen's teeth - he almost never performs live any more.

  4. ivylander says This is a gem. Unfortunately, the headache I have this morning was not caused by alcohol, but by having to choose between watching the countdown with Carson Daly or with Ryan Seacrest. If every culture gets the celebrities it deserves, America is so screwed.... Even weirder, as soon as the damned thing had dropped, I started flipping channels wildly in an attempt to escape, and what did I stumble upon? The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, on public TV. Significant weirdness. Just watching how high everyone was made me feel a whole lot more sober....

  5. deadmandeadman says A very nice track. good choice. I got a sad little kick out of Ivylander's 115th dream* "I was ridin' on the Mayflower when I thought I spied some land....." ...

Dermahrk - I hear you...I was shocked when I realised that he played here twice. The concert dates were twenty-five years apart!

The Who performed here a couple of years ago and both Pete and Roger stated from stage that they have no idea why they never performed in Hawaii during their entire career. How that slipped by for forty years suprised them.

Stephen was fantastic at both shows. The first concert in Lahaina was opening for Fleetwood Mac during the "Rumours" tour in 1977. It was a Christmas show to boot! All of those killer songs from his debut and second album were performed.

Fast forward to his second concert here twenty-five years later. He was the headliner with ukulele talent Jake Shimabukuro as the opening act. Stephen had his entire body of work to look back on and perform for an audience who had been waiting a lifetime to see the Bish in concert. His stage patter between songs is perfect. His commentary compliments each of his songs.

His performances are rare indeed...but when he comes to your your town - Anywhere USA - make sure that you go. You'll be glad that you did.
