Power Pop wonders # 5 - John Wicks & The Records

Posted about 4 years ago
I know there are at least a couple of fans of The Records (try googling THAT! A bad band name for the internet age)out there, those who may've bought one of the following: which features their best-known song "Starry Eyes"or this one (recently reissued):But even the fortunate few may not know that the wunderkind behind the Records, John Wicks, has a new CD outI'm not sure why the title includes "An Anthology" as I think almost every track is new. But hey, it's a gift horse....And here's a dynamic sample from it

  1. vannatta says Not to get picky, but Anthology just means: 1 : a collection of selected literary pieces or passages or works of art or music 2 : assortment Technically every album is an anthology of what the artist chose to release. More important, the track sounds deliciously retro - thanks for posting.

  2. dermahrk says Vanatta, being a bit obsessive about vocabulary and grammar myself, I welcome the input. I think the issuance of the three "Anthologies" by the Beatles, all firmly rooted in the past, somehow skewed the meaning of the word in my mind.

  3. vannatta says Understood - it has usually (and almost always) is meant to mean something that has not just already existed, but something that has already been released.
