I was going to re-post about the Divinyls, and when I do a Google search for images, lo and behold I find THIS news:"ARIA Hall of Fame inductees The Divinyls will be the first female-fronted act to headline the all-Australian Homebake Festival in its 13 year history. In a line-up labelled as homage to the first ladies of the Australian music industry, The Divinyls with lead singer Chrissy Amphlett will play their first Australian show in more than a decade.Last year they re-formed to perform two songs when they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.Missy Higgins, Sarah Blasko and The Beautiful Girls (who are in fact four blokes) have also been announced to perform at the 2007 festival in Sydney's The Domain on December 8."So, I started out reposting most of the text of one of my earliest MOG posts. This is because back in the bad-ol'-days you couldn't attach songs to a post, so we were talking about music without hearing music. Much better these days, even mit Shloopy-problems. Here 'tis:"Many (if not all) of the U.S. fans of the Divinyls may not be aware of their final (for now, at least) CD – “Underworldâ€. A scan of the back cover is below. This was apparently released in Austrailia, but never saw U.S. release. Indeed, if you go to Amazon.com, it’s not even listed as an available import. This is really a crime because it is, hands down, their best release. I’ve been a fan since I first saw the “Boys In Town†video on MTV back in the 80s. It stands head and shoulders above all of the rest of their catalog, and contains their best single song ever, “Human On The Insideâ€. This was covered (poorly) by Chrissie Hynde / Pretenders. She not only did an inferior version but changed the goddam title to “Only Human†Arrrrrgh! The Divinyls are unfortunately known best here in the States for their hit single “I Touch Myselfâ€. I love the group, but not this song. Furthermore, once the the group is no more, Chrissie Amphlett has all but vanished from the earth. No solo CDs, nothing. I finally found a radio interview by Googling her (as opposed to ogling her, another favorite pastime) and she says she’s married, living happily in New York (NYC, I think) and still sings, referring to some club appearance she did with other 80s stars. Here’s hoping at some point she gets more interested in rekindling her music. "And here is "Human On The Inside"as well as a link to a second great song from the "Underworld" CD, "I'm Jealous":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcH_9t_nF30And, for any other obsessives out there, I'll add, in the comments section, the referred-to-above ARIA hall of fame segments featuring the Divinyls, including a retrospective and induction speech by actor and fellow Aussie Hugh Jackman.

hehe, he said "Austrailian", hehe (serves you right for correcting those who are psychedelia impaired, lol)
I do like her voice alot but didn't find the music all that intriguing. I do find her voice quite unique, there were just so many more musically interesting bands to me at that time.

I dig it when we disagree because if you can't argue about rock and roll what is there? *lol
I love the Divinyls! I also really love The Pretenders doing that song! Yes...the title was shortened to just "Human". Before that album came out from The Pretenders...I'm fairly sure that Chrissie Hynde was approached to do that song as a theme for an ABC short lived television series. It was a dramedy with Paula Marshall and Jeremy Piven called "Cupid". An excellent show with so much dialogue that I'm sure their telephone book sized scripts broke the "Moonlighting" record for most dialogue on television. This may or may not have been the reason that Chrissie released it on the next album.
It's cool to see the Divinyls get their due! I hope that Chrissy Amphlett does resurface with more fine recorded musical performances. If she doesn't and has found a more fulfilling life than more power to her. She and her bandmates gave some wonderful music to cherish forever.
