Jon Hopkins - Amazing electronic music

I've recently discovered the music of Jon Hopkins and have been blown away. You can certainly tell that he's a classically trained pianist first and foremost and this mature understanding of the music certainly shines through in his music. You won't get any repetitive 4/4 same beats over and over -- Jon Hopkins delivers lush melodies, unique instrumentations, and haunting soundscapes that you'll

The Garden...A bit too much.

The garden had some moments worth hearing, but... I'm much more a fan of their earlier works. They've lost something in their latest work. Yes, I know they're, like many, trying to reinvent themselves, but I believe they're moving away from what made them so enjoyable *sigh*

Lusine is the BEST of the minimalistic/IDM/electronica music out there. Truly imaginative, creative work. Definitely give these guys a listen. More info here:http://www.ghostly.com/1.0/artists/lusine/index.shtml

Takk is also excellent, as is their earlier works. There'll always be a soft spot in m

Boards of Canada was my introduction to some of the finer, more polished electronica that is out there. Geogaddi was my first introduction to the group and I've been a big fan ever since. I recommend them heavily.

Victory Music for Heaven

Explosions in the Sky is probably what would play as the intro music to Heaven's Gates. Purely instrumental and beautiful wall-of-sound, Explosions in the Sky is a lighter, more uplifting Godspeed you Black Emperor. Also, if you listen to The Album Leaf, it's similar, but a bit more guitar-driven and acoustic in its percussion.Explosions in the Sky is truly dramatic and victoious music. Fanfar

Portishead is sex

Lush, sexy, downtempo music that you can't help but love. Portishead takes me back to late nights in college, driving with the windows down in the middle of the night. If you enjoy Massive Attack, Tricky, and Goldfrapp, you'll surely love (and probably already love) Portishead.

Bichi - Notwithstanding

I came across Bichi (http://www.myspace.com/bichi) while listening to my awesome radio station (http://www.pandora.com/?sc=sh27050043335070411) at Pandora.com. The music was immediately appealing to me. An intelligent marriage of beat, melody, and lush texture that appealed to my Boards of Canada loving musical self.I immediately began searching for his CD that I eventually found on a UK music s
