WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

If song lyrics were used in real life: E5 - 9mm

Posted 7 months ago

As requested by Dansemcabre, here's David Banner's "9mm" in a courtroom setting. I'm actually pleasantly surprised how this one turned out. Unfortunately I wasn't able to upload the track to go along with this post, but I'll try to attach it later today if I can...

If song lyrics were used in real life on Xtranormal

did you do the animation on this?  If so, I am ridiculously impressed.  I'm not familiar with the song, so I don't know how the lyrics are vs. this, but it's still pretty funny.

I was finally able to upload the track, so you can give it a listen if you would like.

Unfortunately I can't take the credit on the animation. I used the site Xtranormal where you select the characters and scene, then write the character's dialog. I do 3D animation at work (and sometimes as a contractor) but it would take me a month to pull something like this off instead of the couple hours it takes on the site.

Still, very cool.  We might have to talk.  My band is currently thinking about trying to do some sort of video for one of our songs, but none of us really know anything about it.  I was thinking of trying some sort of animation route.

I would relish such a project Groon. As long as you're not looking for a Bug's Life or Finding Nemo kind of production throw me a Mogmail!

Yep. You pick the charecters, the scene then give them dialog. When you start working on one, here's some tips:

    • It automaticly picks the camera angles for you using the "Magic Camera" but I find it switches the camera too many times. You can turn the Magic Camera off and manually script camera angles, but this eats up valuable script space (you're limited in how many charecters you can enter).
    • The same is true about sounds, charecter actions, and expressions. These all add to your scene but eat up valuable script space.
    • Test your scene constantly. Often a charecter reads dialog strangely and you have to trick them into saying things right. Also strange stuff starts happening once you put charecter actions in.

Let me know when you have something, I'de love to see it!

Will defintitely mail you about it in the future.  We're looking at doing some recording at some point probably in June, so I'll have to wait until then.
