WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Smashing Pumpkins Back in the Game

Posted over 2 years ago
When I think of the Smashing Pumpkins I am sent back to high school and all those feelings of teenage angst that come along with that stage in life. I was a bit of a latecomer when it came to music. It wasn't until I discovered that the boy who was the object of all of my teenage affection was listening to bands like Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam that I started really exploring all that the music world had to offer. My first exposure to the Pumpkins was "Disarm" from Siamese Dream. I couldn't tell you how many times I have listened to that song. When I really got into them though was when I got my hands on a copy of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. I listened to it over and over and over again. I couldn't get enough of it.Unfortunately, my love for Billy Corgan and the rest of the gang waned during my first year of college. I had a roommate who plastered Billy's face all over our room and listened to nothing but the Pumpkins day and night. As strong as my love was, it could not withstand the heavy rotation that my roommate insisted on.That was over ten years ago. Since then I've pulled out a Smashing Pumpkins song now and then for a listen but have never been able to regain the love I once had. Until today. I got my first listen of Zeitgeist today and was very impressed. When a friend sent me the link this morning, I wasn't really sure what to expect. I've listened through the whole thing four times now and have yet to tire of it. I do believe that they are back.If you haven't had a listen yet, you can check out the full album a
