MUSIC CHATTER AND MATTER

In Honor of My Dad

Posted over 2 years ago
Interesting how a playlist finds just the right song when you need to hear it. Missing my dad this holiday season - he passed unexpectedly New Year's Day 2005 and hard to believe its been almost 2 years.Dance With My Father Again just played and brought me to tears....happy ones mostly since the last time I saw him was Oct 2005 and we WERE dancing at my niece's sweet 16 party. Hearing the Dance song made me give a listen to the playlist I made after he passed that I burned to cd's for family members. Peter Paul and Mary - Where Have All the Flowers Gone was a song I sang for him all the time as a child, Irish Eyes are Smiling , Hero, and so on.To all of you Moggers with moms and dads still alive, give them a hug and kiss this week or call them and tell them you love them. Love you dad and mom - thanks for all you gave me !

  4. OldRockr1 says Both Warren Zevon and Johnny Cash passed away the same week as my dad. Zevon's "Keep Me In Your Heart" is an amazing song about dealing with death's aftermath (one's own or anyones for that matter). I played it a few times this holiday season. It helps during those rough moments.

  5. bobglaza says a touching tribute, debi - and OldRockr1 - that is a great, great song - the entire album chokes me up. For some odd reason, I too pulled it out this season. Peace to you in the New Year - Thank you both for finding one of the joys of music and for sharing it -

  7. jimmybearpearson says Wonderful post. My dad died seven years ago (on my daughter's birthday)... There are some tunes that make me remember him... particularly some of Yes's albums.
