Old & In the Way - Tribute to Jerry @ 65

For those not familiar with bluegrass - give this tune (and one in comments) a listen. Its from the early 70s "Old and in the Way" with Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Vassar Clements, Peter Rowan and John Kahn. As you can guess from my avatar I love all of Jerry's music - and find it hard to believe that Jerry would have been 65 later this week.

    dermahrk says A revelation. I love bluegrass music, but not the Dead. I was afraid when I clicked on this I would hear Jerry's limited singing voice but instead I hear lots of harmony - in tune harmony. This might be the only Garcia-related CD I buy. Nice post! And I've always loved the name of the group, which each passing year becomes more relevant to my life.

    debi says Thanks all for the positive feedback on OAITW - glad that even those of you too young (like FlowerPower) or those not into Jerry's voice (dermahrk) enjoyed the tunes. And yes Darmuzz I'm glad that others have posted some of the music online - since my originals are vinyl and I haven't the equipment to transfer to mp3s. @Contra - I'd LOVE to see more music of theirs posted - I added you just in case you do decide to post something. @Angel & Steve- glad I'm not the only mogger who remembers this band. @Az - I change avatars back and forth between the dancing bear and Marley - my 2 most listened to musical styles Another of my favorites - Panama Red ~ZnRVCn4KER4.mp3~
