It's been 11 days since hubby and I got back from 3 amazing days at Mountain Jam.I wanted to write a review last week, but putting into words a trip back to our youth is impossible.
From my Mog avatar, I obviously have a special place in my heart for the Grateful Dead - so being among a mass of humanity sharing the music, the spirit and the good karma of 'peace and love' was such a blessing.(Didn't hurt that there was also alot of passing of other things too!)
Hubby and I were able to shed the stresses from bills, careers, etc and go back to the days when we first met as 16 yr olds. Sure we're older and a bit slower now, but age doesn't matter when music is involved. For three days on the mountain we WERE home again !
Thanks to Grace, Drive By Truckers, Gov't Mule, Ray LaMontagne, Felice Brothers, Citizen Cope, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Sharon Jones & DapKings, and all the rest that made the trip back home so memorable. We will definitely be on the mountain again next May.

I'm not sure I ever want to see Duran Duran in the flesh. On the other hand, I would have loved to meet some of these ladies.

Bill Withers version is amazing - but Joan's voice brings a special meaning as I wait the return of a special person in my life.

For some reason, the passage from "she" to "he" has always felt awkward to me even though Ms Osborne does a superb job here.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Joan has really grown as an artist and in my eyes over the years. I have to admit I was kinda put off by her breakthrough material, but the solo stuff and productions for folks like The Holmes Brothers over the years have won me over. I guess it wasn't necessarily growth, just perhaps doing what she wanted to all along. Then of course, there's me growing up,too.

Sounds like a great time! Diggin the song.....will have to give G.P. a more detailed listen.......i will agree that a great show coupled with a few days away from things is good for the soul...by the way did you pass that keyboardist in the above photo a sample of the good "karma" going around at the show?
Grace Potter sounds like she's having a great time. And by the look of your pictures it seems as though you too had a grand time holidaying and enjoying the music.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
Grace is definitely worth a listen - and not bad to look at either :)
Brainofj - although the pics are close up - I wasn't close enough to pass any 'karma' on stage. However during the Drive By show - there was al ot of back and forth sharing of Jack Daniels among the band....just no 'karma'
