Great Guitar Solos?

Posted almost 6 years ago
Heli0tr0pe asked the question about great guitar solos over the weekend. I nominated Metallica's ...And Justice for All, and I stand by that. :) But I've also always been partial to this one by SRV at Austin City Limits in 1983, and since youtube makes these things so easy to find, I thought I'd share, as long as we're on the topic. :)It's all brilliant, but if you're short on time, skip to about five and a half minutes in.

  1. Zurk says - Eric Clapton on Roger Waters' "Pros and Cons of Hitchiking" (the song, though the guitar work on the whole album is impressive) - I also have to say that I love the guitar solo on Jethro Tull's "Aqualung".. it really fits the song perfectly.. and relevance is as important as soul/skill IMO - Jerry's little ditty on "It must have been the Roses" from Reckoning. Again, it fits the song perfectly.

  2. deathmonkey says Zurk, I'm not familiar with any of those. (I mean, I know Aqualung, but not well enough to call the solo to mind.) I'll have to look them up when I get some time. Thanks!

  4. Parker catalano says My dad used to be good friends with Stevie Ray at about the time when he stopped doing coke, and after hearing all of his stories, it's amazing not only to hear how amazing he is on the guitar, but also see how big he has gotten.

  6. deathmonkey says Parker, Hmm. Stevie Ray is dead. I think maybe you have him confused with Steven Seagal. Just a thought. Cheers! :)
