THE MUSIC BLOGGING NETWORK

Artist:
Album: Jools Holland's Big Band Rhythm & Blues
Track: *I Wanna Be Around
(36)

Anyone familiar with John Cale's

_ouevre_ will be surprised by this track. I like John Cale, his music is usually dark and dense, with subject matter to match. Lou Reed has had his moments, but my favorite Velvet Underground alum is definitely J. C. His Paris 1999 (live) is a must have in any collection of Dark rock n roll.

So I was surprised when I heard him doin' this, he sounds like an old school crooner, with a lot of Sinatra, some Bobby Darin, even echoes of Der Bingle. Jools Holland was a founding member and driving force behind Squeeze, and has since then carved himself quite a niche as a pop music explorer.

I bought this cd some time ago because it contained the last recording George Harrison _completed_ before his death.
