This song has been a part of my children's Christmas Tradition all their lives. No bells jingling, no cheery/cheezey choruses, just a simple retelling of the Nativity Story from the point of view of a poor sheppard on a nearby hillside. Sung with just the right awed vulnerability by Rick Danko, this song has always touched my heart. A simple yet majestic number, The Band nailed it on this performance. Robbie Roberston revived it, in a newer slicker version for the Scrooged soundtrack that is nor without it's charm, _if_ you never heard this. Pardon me if anyone else has posted this today, I haven't had much time to read the MOG today, but if they have.....Oh well. c'est la vie!
