Goin' thru old vinyl an' found Kilimanjaro.....Still an impressive record. One of the best examples of mid-period british psychedelia i can think of. Etheral, earthy, punchy,light.....POP. You'll find these tunes floating back to ya days later. REWARD charted briefly in some regions, but sales were modest. TOO BAD. Julian Cope was a;lready honing his songwriting skills, and the bannd was downright propulsive LIVE. Later albums were spotty, Oh but those spots could be grand. Check 'em out if ya get the chance.

  1. C-Mor Kinkadoink says The Teardrop Explodes is one of my all time faves. I never saw them live but I saw Cope solo a couple of times. Did you know that Copey, Ian McCulloch (Bunneymen) and Pete Wiley (Mighty Wah) were in a band together before all this. They were called the Mighty Three.

  3. Beardywierdy says I'd always thought it was called the Crucial Three, but McCulloch, Cope and Wiley all deny the allegation of being in the same band, but it doesn't matter cos they were/are great acts that kept the early 80's bearable. Ian Brodie played at Eric's when he was 15. Thatcher might have tried to kill Liverpool, but it just made the music better and better. 10 points to the first person to tell me who Echo was.

  5. radio gnome says Echo was the drum machine used by the band before they got a human drummer, portrayed by Pete de Freitas.
