WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

A most unusual day. And an apology to B42

Posted about 1 year ago

Today I met Maria y Hector, from Guatalmala. I was stuck on the side of I-95 and they stopped to see if they could help. Hector called his brother who came out with a tow truck and towed my Kia to a yard in N. Providence. Hector & his brother diagnosed the problem, (water pump), while Maria & Olga started cooking. Hector made another call, and another call and soon his cousin shows up with a water pump. Rogerio's wife knew me. She worked in the factory at the company I work for.

I do not know what she told the gathered crowd but after she spoke I was getting pats on the back, and handshakes, and "good man" "Amigo". By mid-afternoon my car was fixed, my belly was full, and they wouldn't take a friggin' penny. Not for parts, not for labor, nothin'. We had some good wine & a little long-bottom leaf from the shire and it was such a great time. But.........

....I was supposed to meet up with Bruce in Fall River & I lost the slip of paper that I wrote his cell phone number on. I even deleted his Mogmail (out of stupid habit) so I cannot retrieve it here. I hope he reads this.

>>>But I gotta tell you folks, this has been a most wonderful day.

That's alright Jeff, I didn't end up going anyway.

S wasn't feeling well so I figured I would just wait until I heard from you to make the 20 minute drive up there. There will be other opportunities for us to catch some live tunes, and soon I do believe.

Oh, the kindness of strangers...love to hear these stories.  Leaves me all warm and fuzzy.

When are you going to sell the rights to the story?  It could be the next feel good movie of the century.

mayhap you used that little slip of paper to roll...?...oh, never mind. Misfortune turns to affirmation of the human spirit. And a most rollickin' tune to boot. thanky...
