you're right! that early part is totally Dear Prudence. the more "serious" delivery makes it sound like a far bigger, doubly embarrassing, possibly life-damaging joke was told. (;

Well, I for one prefer this to the excessive vibrato on Robin Gibb in the original. Sounds like the Wallflowers for some reason.
