...Would have made it big. Real big. Unlike most of the bands that arose in San Francisco in the late fifties, **Blue Cheer** played loud and furious blues-based psychedelia. **Vincebus Erupton**, in it's day, was quite unlike anything else out there. Their version of **Summertime Blues** is still my favorite.
The track I've posted here, **Sun Cycle**, was the soundtrack to some incredible lysergic daydreams & cannibus floats. (from what I've been told). Though it sounds a bit quaint & dated, I think it stands well along side other releases from 1968, West Coast, East Coast, or "across the pond".

I discovered Blue Cheer after learning that Ethan James had produced Double Nickels on the Dime. They and Creation are the two most underrated bands of the 60s in my mind.
**They and Creation are the two ??more?? underrated bands of the 60s in my mind.**
There were many, sadly
outrageous that you posted this tune -> I honestly have never heard of these guys, or so I thought, but I remember listening to this song and probably others off this album when blazing with one of my 'clients' who was an old-head, and had a record collection you wouldn't believe -> this dude bought more pot than anyone I knew, which was good for my business, and he was always jamming to some off the wall 'crap' (or so I thought at the time) -> and this tune played over concert speakers on his back deck while we took bong hits in his life size tree house out back -> I've since been off the drugs, and I have opened myself to all kinds of music, as much as I like hendrix and Jefferson Airplane, and The Grateful Dead, this is a band I need in my collection, very psychadelic jam DMDM, you are the man
There was an "origin of metal" discussion that came up here a little while ago and Blue Cheer came up.
This is a nice track. I'll have to explore further.
Great shout out for Blue Cheer deadmandeadman
Vincebus Eruptum is a truly magnificent Opus
This is great stuff, I have also never heard, therefore I don't have much to add. Just felt like commenting.
I have that first album. This seems a bit calmer than that. Still, it is a strong contender for ugliest album cover of all time.
Summertime Blues? Geez, I think Eddie Cochran and the Who blow Blue Cheer away.
The Who just copied what Blue Cheer did.
Cool post. Their 2nd album surprised me with its beauty when I bought a cheap used LP of it only thirty years late. I bet their first one is good too. The video above is slammin', though I could have done without the crashing cymbals, which blotted out the complicated rhythms with white noise.
