I guess to some **Conor Oberst** is am acquired taste, he has moments of stunning brilliance & moments of precious, cloying inanities. His cds, especially his earlier ones, could be frustrating & exhilerating, often in the same piece.
**I'm Wide Awake Its Morning** and it's companion work **Digital Ash In A Digital Urn** presented the work of a maturing, frightened artist, battered, bewidered & beguiled by life.
**Cassadaga**, IMHO was a step back from the brink, a cautious toss of hamburger to lions.
I have not finished digesting his new one, **Conor Oberst** yet, but on first listen...its strong.

You summed up Bright Eyes' career very neatly. Sounded close to my own feelings, and yet this new "solo" effort has loomed before me, unheard...until now. Thanks. This song is strong--VERY. Reminds me a bit of a younger Jeff Tweedy. Nice.
Yeah Klyde, I hear ya. Definitely a Tweedy-esque feel to some of this.
Oh my, that's nice! Thanks for the play :)
A bit like Old 97's as well. I like it.
I kind of miss the old sound, like on Letting Off the Happiness. Cassadega fell flat for me. I'm only 4 songs into Conor Oberst's solo album and already liking it more than the previous Bright Eyes album.
This is a good song -- getting play on XM -- the more I hear the more I like.
Does have a little rollicking alt-country Old 97s to it. I agree. Conor chanelling Rhett Miller?
