YOU CONNECT THE DOTS, I CAN'T FIND THE FRIGGIN' THINGS.

Posted about 1 year ago
Where are the dots? ??How?? do they connect?>>>This track features **William S. Burroughs** reading the lyric of **Laurie Anderson**, with skittery nervous guitar scratching courtesy of mr **Adrian Belew** . In it's own odd disjointed way it ??feels?? like today, in the larger sense, feels like.""...I can't seem to face up to the factsI'm tense and nervous, I can't relax...."Does anyone remember **Elvis Costello's** first few videos? Spastic? In your face geekiness celebrating misery, holding it, cherishing each slight? >>>I don't know, it seems to this observer there are too many people too eager to be offended.I'm talkin' about the professional victims yes, but also the minions that stalk the theaters for the most violent disgusting offensive fare available. One wonders how far they'd go.Times change,>>>I'm pretty sure that soon time will run out.>>>I am reminded of the fulsome FEDGE. He was as rude and obnoxious a Mogger as ever there was in the history of the site, I dare say. I believe he was the only one ever to be escorted out the door.At the time, the world famous ROCKNROLLPIMP raged and railed at the injustice of it all. He was by no means a friend of FEDGE'S, quite the contrary in fact, but Kieth was standing on Principle (with a very capital 'P').{in the interest of full disclosure, your humble servant here sat on the fence and offered not a word of disgust. We timidly supported admin. PIMP shamed me that day. It wasn't his intent, but I realized he stood where I should be.}From such humbling experiences we learn, we try to grow.PIMP was defending free speech, even in this private forum, and I agree.Yeah, I'm ramblin'. This was supposed to be much more.>>>Like why do people feel they have some sort of government granted right to not be offended? Oh yeah, hate speech. Hate crimes....."Who are the brain police?">>>And yet, here in the MOG, we are most sensitive. We would never knowingly offend anyone, right? At least not publicly. But some of us take offense at disagreeing viewpoints, especially politically.>>>Some of the folks have very flowery descriptive prose when discussing the inherent lack of humanity in my recent ancestors. They even spell some of the words right. This pic goes out to three in particular. Calm down, its just a picture of a comedienne pare excellence >>>>IS it possible for a site to become so bland, so ??sensitive??......Hmmmmmm, I don't wanna follow that thought.

  1. Bartleby says Sorry DMDM, I can't seem to connect the . -- Call me thick if you will but I was so ensnared with Lonesome Cowboy Bill's voice that I didn't quite follow what you were on about. Hey, hang on a second. Did you just call me thick?!?

  2. AA Coppertop says I'm having a pretty tentative day mentally. That is to say, basic brain-function-wise. I got my own dots I can't connect. Speaking of "comediennes pare excellence..." On the other side of the aisle, Arianna Huffington is pretty droll too and she's got a sexy accent. She just guested on Bill Maher's program "Real Time", which is the best thing of its type on the tube. Unfortunately, Bill's just gone on vacation 'til August. :( <------ sad face

  3. scotfree says Before we get into it, what recording is this from? I try to here all things Belew, but this is unknown... While the abscence of flame wars is part of the appeal 'round here, there is an abundance of peace and love - and, as EC sang - understanding. I don't mind it. I don't insult easily, and I shy away from political expression (basically 'cause I'm usually mystified in myriad ways). I guess I've not run into many wildly incendiary moggers, guess it could add spice. I'm not really sure what you're on about, so it ust be either a private matter or political. Can I just say one more thing? Let's have some music...

  4. zielwolf says Cool. More noise, more alcohol, more anger. What we need. I'd put here a playlink to Kerosene by Big Black just for fun but I don't know how to do that :(

  5. waydutch says scotfree - excellent tuneage, great new stuff from TPOTUSA, I really like this album, who knew all these years later they still had it... . DMDM - having trouble follow your dots myself. . Appreciate your reference to Ann as a comedienne, unfortunately think too many who read her take her seriously. Colbert is a comedienne, Ann I feel is more a results be damned opportunist. . I don't think I've ever dissed your ancestors, though I know our slants on politics differ some... . and yes, agree, too much make nice sensitivity, never offend anyone is dangeous and dull.

  6. Spike says I kind of miss Fedge, although I missed out on experiencing almost all of his loose-cannon rants. By telling him "Ya vole, Fedgemeister" once, I got him to move his cross-hairs away from my direction. I guess the rule should be that to insult someone in particular is a no-no, but to express provocative contrarian opinions toward no one in particular is a yes-yes.

  7. I am says Jeff, I can't help but think I am one of your dots. Which brings one of your recent comments into sharp focus. My Constitution series was fun. We have our moments and in the end walked away better for it. What happened my friend? Did I get too sensitive? Nah, just went in a different direction. Believe it or not, I have been pondering the whole 'validation' idea. The best I came up with was , Aren't we all here in part because of 'validation'?

  8. AA Coppertop says I can't wait to see the Speed Racer movie, I_am. We all agree on Speed Racer's excellence, yes?

  9. earthman says Well I think I missed the whole thing but the topic is one of my pets, I fully believe in freedom of speech, I dont believe it gives the rights to anyone to abuse anyone else but offense has to be taken and thats is a option. Often offense is taken without it being offered which usually indicates the taker has issues that need addressing. Sorry is a good word for accidents but not so useful when there was intent although an action with intent can lead to a result that was not intended and there a sorry is useful. Sorry often has a more useful effect on the speaker than the receiver. Many people invest far too much of their ego in their opinions. Moggers give their opinions and I for one appreciate it, I dont always agree but it does often move my view point. Once there was a man dragging his stuff on a sled down the beach, he passed a man who was carving some wheels and laughed at the fool

  10. deadmandeadman says 1) Bill, You're one of the reasons this place appeals as it does. Stay cool. 2) Mr Coppertop, yes she is the other end of the same spectrum. (though I think too many of ??her?? fans take her too seriously as well.). 3) Scotty, the MOG is plain' tricks on me again, as this was fully tagged. Anyway, Its the last track on Laurie Anderson's "Mr Heartbreak" CD. 4) Zielwolf, I need no alcohol to fuel my smoldering anger. (I have no smoldering anger LOL) 5) Waydutch & Chris, You guys have always conducted yourselves as thinking gentlemen, sometimes angry, sometimes a bit condescending, but always in a civil, intelligent manner. You two are among my favorites, 'cause you'll usually give me the argument I seek. LOL 6) Spike, I kind of miss FEDGE every now and again. I'm sorry but this place is becoming very bland, too many folks advertising. 7) Earthman, I'm sorry.

  11. TylerDurden says Jeff -> we ain't a bunch of hippies, peeps need to take a flippin pill and chill the F out. Say what you want, that's the way it should be, no need to tread lightly as to not smash any toes, I for one can handle any of the MOGGER'S crazy opinions and beliefs, and I'll banter with them, argue with them, make fun of them -> Whatever. I think Anne Coulter is a comedienne by accident, because she really is that dumb and irritating, it's not an act!! But she is hot if you could get a gag in her mouth and strap it behind her head! so here's down to earth for you -> I'll admit, I'm a duesche sometimes, and you can be one too DM, but that's why I love you. We've all had our ups and downs together, but like you said, it's been getting bland -> so I second the 'MAY IS FOR TAKING BACK MOG MONTH" -> My name isn't really Tyler Durden, and I approve this message. Baby's on the half-tit.

  12. Universalis says ° ° ° Mr. Fedge, gave us many unforgettable good moments... at the expense of some ass kickin' and a few harsch words he was one of the best reason why to Mog a part from music itself :)))) Now let's pull the shit out of the hole, WE ARE THE MOG !!!!

  13. Cody B says "But some of us take offense at disagreeing viewpoints, especially politically." I don't take offense, but I will argue. I think sometimes people call for discourse and then when it comes they get their back up and say the opposition is not engaging in proper discourse. Not you though DMDM, that's why I visit every one of your posts. There's tons of times on MOG when folks will say something incendiary about Music, politics, or the music business and if I answer they don't respond. I hate when that happens. cheers to tha Pimp and DMDM..

  14. BerkeleyBob says Ann C. has a potty mouth and my guess is a real horror-show childhood. (Raised by wolves?) I don't find her funny or a commedienne, any more than I find Amy Winehouse's troubles tittilating. An odd post, DeadMan. Of course, it's all a matter of taste, as the cannibal king said... And I favor robust debate, although I have been on a few web-sites that were damn' near destroyed by foul-mouthed obsessive ranters. BerkeleyBob

  15. dermahrk says Must disagree with you on Fedge. The only Mogger to get kicked off, and the only one that deserved it. While there are many I find annoying (and you know who they are, Jeffy!), there are none I find offensive like I did the Fedge-packer.
