  1. scotfree says Well worth more than one listen to get the story down. "Pair a dice in my shoe..." that's some dedication. Willie did him proud.

  2. Cody B says Nice. One. I never listened to a lot a Blind willie til this year and I was amazed how much Dylan absorbed from him. I'd heard Dylan say he was an influence, but I didn't really know the depths, His stuff really stands out from a lot of the old masters.

  3. deadmandeadman says Scotty, Willie was a fine performer with a sly humor & knowing wink. Cody B, yeah, Dylan soaked up influences like whitebread in milk. His whole oeuvre is a breathing museum of American icons. Willie, & Hank, & Jimmie, and countless others' echoes reverberate in the music of Bob Dylan. Yet the names are interchangeable, the Blind Willies had their influences, as did Hank Williams & Jimmie Rogers, and everyone else who's ever made music. This incestuous musical lineage is what makes the best music as timeless as a dawn and as special as the present dawn, you know?

  4. runobodyii says "The King of the Twelve String Guitar," esteemed Sir, is Lead Belly. Just google the phrase and you will see. Apart from this grave breach of protocol, a fine post.

  5. deadmandeadman says Leadbelly has the title maybe, but Blind Willie's got the chops.

  6. Spike says Wonderful performance. Imagine the logistics of doing that funeral blind. He lived his lyrics, unlike the white cover artists who came later.

  7. ivylander says Seems to me you've also got to consider the Rev. Gary Davis in any list of 12-string greats. But this is a great 'un....

  8. Sturgell says this stuff is what 'gangsta' was 1929.

  9. Spike says Indeed. Hard rock comes right out of it as well.
