THE WHITE STRIPES COVER DYLAN
-
Artist:
-
Album:B-side Collection 1
-
Track:Love Sick
...........The White Stripes replace Dylan's world-weary, fatalistic air with one of defiance & anger. Love Sick is another in a long list of Dylan songs that could be interpreted as open letters to his fans. Another meditation on the Artist's relationship to the marketplace, which drives his art........I know what you're thinking....."You got a lot of nerve to say you are my friend", right?
.....Anyway, I've mentioned here before how I came late to the party concerning the White Stipes.....and now I'm a rabid fan.
.....Jack White tears through this song like a chainsaw, illustrating the raw exposed nerves of the lyric with jagged blasts of barely surpressed rage.

Not being a big Dylan fan I am unfamiliar with the original that this covers. All I can say in response to this cover therefore is that it rocks and agree with your comment on Jack White's interpretation.
nice, very nice
Ive never heard a bad cover from Jack. he's always managed to make whatever he covers his own while still honoring the origional. Great pick
Not a rabid fan of Jack White's yet, but he has an interesting take on the material. I do have a concert recording of Dylan at Portland ca. 2002 doing the song with his voice at an all time worst, but much stronger than the Stripes. Just my opinion. I know Jack White appeared so uneasy and freaked out during his brief appearance with the Stones, jamming with Keith--I don't think he is comfortable on stage even after quite a bit of experience. He has been quite prolific, and I respect his talent. Just not a rabid fan, yet...
You Bastard! OH ok I guess you can have an opinion and freedom of speech even if you disagree with me. But just so you know I'm right your wrong lol!
Love it. White Stripes do great covers, true. Not big on the live versions though. Possible studio recording coming soon?
