Somebody has to point out all the toxic tracks the pretender to the throne has left behind.
The man has very few "deep tracks" woth hearing. IMHO

Yeah, you're not going to find much outside of the hits. This is a great example of just how bad it could get...
Why would anyone call this one the King? Long live King Charles of St. Louis!
who the hell is Elvish?
Definitely not one of his best.
Toxic Tuesday: Revelling in the bad and absurd! Somtimes making fun of it, somtimes secretly enjoying it. Like mystery science theatre 3000 only with music. Why don't more people get this! Are we that humorless on MOG? Do we take our musical conisuerness that seriously? I don't! Music is human possibly the most human thing we do besides love so it's sure to be flawed and somtimes a bit akward but that gives it character. If there was only epically good music there would be nothing to compare it to so we'd have no Idea how epically good it was. anyway enough philosophy just relax every tuesday and get a little silly. The rest of the week we can post seriously important tracks.
His gospel stuff is pretty good,no? But yeah, I understand the sentiments on the deep catalog..filler,filler,filler.In his defense, Elvis albums seem born for filler and seem to be pure product generally. Despite the many records he was a singles guy..
Toxic Tuesday is for surah the day. I rue the day where I have listened to this... ahahahah. Its toxic too cuz we are the sick house! ARGH!
Thanks for adding to our already Toxic day... :P
That's the spirit, Dan. This is quite bad, but it's good it end quickly... LOL
Yep now when you listen to a good track you can say wow thats really good!
Dansemc- you got it. Anyone know who is doing the female backing vocal?
I know it can't be- but it sounds a lot like B-52's Kate Pierson, doesn't it?
Elvis put out so much dross (especially on the film soundtracks), but oh those diamonds!
yeah, I like your angle too, Dans. of course this could never stand on its own as "hit" or "serious" music, but that's not what it is - it's a vehicle to push along a silly movie meant to capitalize on Elvis iconic draw. it has little to do with music, yet is still amusing and entertaining because of who is involved. see, we're still talkin' about it 50 yrs later!
hey Fasted, wiki tells me the background vocs for this track were done by L.A. jazz vocalist Kitty White, and it sounds like there's a remixed version that plays more like a duet. so much history under every little rock in the stream. (but that's where the crawfish hide)
damn you/thank you inrumford!
Ok, go listen to this song again... he is talking about sex, and the crawfish in a penis.
And no, I am not kidding.................
"crawfish in a penis" - a painful vision or a wonderful band name?
lol.. its is a metaphor however, for all the Elvis Vinyl I have (Parents) and the man crush one of my frathernity brothers had on the guy (was a music major), I have picked up a few tidbits here and there.
Wait a goll-dang minute! This is a family post! We'll have no freudian psychobabble! Never mind what it says about someone who'd put their penis in a crawfish
I am not even going to start talking about Frogg Giggin then....
Giggity, giggity
lmao.. its way past my bedtime..
Say Goodnight, Ghost In You
Goodnight Ghost in You!
Poof!
scotfree- thanks for the info on the backing vocalist!
i love the percussion track
Elvis' deep tracks deserve a deep, deep burial.
Lennon was right about him dying in the Army, but before that, not much filler. This has always been one of my favorites, but now seeing him sing it for the first time since my unknowing youth, I can't deny this surprising erotic angle. Speaking of angle, when he has his elbows on the window sill, he subtly moves his torso to the beat, making it easier for the females in the theater to imagine themselves lying under him. Though the camera created a distance between the two singers, was this white-black duet an American mass-media first?
