THE TAXMAN COMETH!
-
Artist:
...Beatle George always had a practical side. His rant against the Taxman opened the magnificent Revolver album in 1966. Excessive taxation strangles a society.

........Even as his approval rating remains fairly high, his handling of various issues is alarming to a growing number of citizens. His handling of foreign policy has a disapproval rating in the mid sixties....and although most citizens understand the need for reform in the healthcare industry, each day finds the disapproval rating rising higher & higher for the plans coming from democrats hell-bent on providing a "public option" that is STRONGLY opposed by an overwhelming number of Citizens. Americans understand the calumny of the current administration.....A growing number understand the rationale...& reject it
....And the whining of the White House concerning the Fox News Channel is just down-right....amazing. Like Nixon, president NOT BUSH seems to have an enemy of the state list......But the attacks on FNC are earning him NO POINTS AT ALL with sentient citizens, tho his followers lap it up. The overnight ratings indicate a steady increase of viewer share for FNC.....perhaps out of curiosity...but they stay because...by 67% they believe fox NEWSCASTS to be fair & balanced. (aol.com online poll 10-21-09).
......let's get back to basics

But Fox newscasts are not what drives the network and not what's on in the big money primetime. Like I said before..From CBS to FOX to MSNBC, whether newscast or opinion show, it is all infotainment to me. All to be taken with incredible heapings of salt and caveat emptor and all that. As I said, he should've come down on all of 'em. However, I like the idea of calling someone out, not because it'll play in Peoria, but because it is true.
I'm not sure where you are getting all your numbers, but the day to day poll watch is not really a way to analyze things. Although each of us, I'm sure could find numbers that go either way. Plus, as far as I can tell, the national healthcare mood is swinging toward the newly named medicare for everybody, perhaps making my summer predictions come true. Now that folks are paying attention, the real debate is starting and the real horse trading on the hill is in effect, as the youngsters used to say.
On foreign policy, I might be closer to you..but those issues rarely are a big deal here.
The only thing I want is the same health care and retirement that the elected officials that at every election say they work for me get.
So you say you want a Revolution? Here's a song to stir the pot.
If buttercups buzz'd after the bee
If boats were on land, churches on sea
If ponies rode men and if grass ate the cows
And cats should be chased into holes by the mouse
If the mamas sold their babies
To the Gypsies for half a crown
If summer were spring
And the other way 'round
Then all the world would be upside down!
Yeah..that one. I want that. Is that the Green Party song?
I began to gather my usual ammunition for this theme, my references from people like Ellis Washington (former editor of the Michigan Law Review and law clerk at The Rutherford Institute. He is a graduate of John Marshall Law School and a lecturer and freelance writer on constitutional law, legal history, political philosophy and critical race theory), Michael Savage (Some not all of it), G Gordon Liddy (His belief all Americans need to read/watch from all sides of the spectrum on an issue before deciding what their stance is), John Stossel (his ability to simply tell the truth and call it like it is) and of course Penn and Teller if for nothing more their Showtime Series "Bullshit")...The effects of popular culture on the intellectual capacity of Americans, the arguement that Media's (Print/Radio/TV/Film) efforts is to ultimately make money, not conciously or objectively inform its viewing audience, the truth behind what groups like the NAACP, the Democratic/Republican Parties, their real agenda, (which is not actually an agenda at all, but more of a vehicle in which people utilize to achieve personal power and wealth) the falacy of Anarchy, mother nature, thinning of herds, intentions verses results, self gratification and insecurity as it applies to activism, Affirmitive Action verses equal oppurtunity, common sense..........
Oh the list goes on.
Then I realized....... nah, im just a two demensional avatar on a flat screen with text attached to it. People have their opinions of who "Ghost" is, what his musical taste are and how they may gain insight or at least enjoyement from reading about my take on music.
This is not the place, nor do I have the energy anymore. I find myself regressing into a more cynical view of things each day. My once open minded view and passion for equality has turned to disgust, frustration, tendancy to stereotype, and be proven right by it time and time again. People really are not much more than what they offer at face value. "I saw that coming" is far more prevelant than "I had no idea".
There are two basic people in this world. Those who see, and those who fail to see. The problem with those that see, is we still think we can teach the blind to see. And in the end, they can only do that for themselves.
And glad to see your are one of the seeing Deadsman's Reach
I find it interesting that Faux News found it "necessary" to cover all the Tea Party protests, no matter how small, but was totally mum when it came to the Gay March on Washington, which easily drew more people.
Thats an easy one Konkrypton. How many products out there actively go after the gay community market. And how many go after middle class America.
Its all about the commercials man, they aim for the broadest market with cash to spend, keep them tuned in, and then offer that market to corporations to advertise their products.
"find it interesting that Faux News found it "necessary" to cover all the Tea Party protests, no matter how small, but was totally mum when it came to the Gay March on Washington, which easily drew more people".
...FNC Covered the story. They just didn't give it much time. ...I mean, How news-worthy was it? What was accomplished? America still largely disagrees with the marchers
America still largely disagrees with the marchers.
No, you disagree and you're generalizing to "America." From an article in the St. Petersburg Times for June 20, 1994:
Fifty-two percent of Americans now consider gay lifestyle acceptable - up from just 35 percent in April 1976 - while 39 percent find the lifestyle unacceptable, down from 59 percent over the same time period, the poll said.
This was 15 years ago. I'm just sayin'...
.....In every state where the people were allowed to vote on a gay-marriage referendum....it failed to pass.
Good numbers, DMDM?: Barack Obama's decline in popularity since the summer is the worst of any US president at the same stage in a first term in over 50 years. The most recent public opinion poll carried out by the research company Gallup found Mr Obama's approval rating stood at 53 per cent for the third quarter of 2009. The figure represents a sharp drop for the 62 per cent he recorded from April. I got that here: http://www.uknetguide.co.uk/Latest-News/Barack-Obama-sees-approval-rating-plummet-19424788.html
Ghost in you....From another who can see: thanks, good words!
