    Crazy.... Cold Cold Heart

.....A few years back Norah Jones was the flavor of the month. It seemed to me, anyway, that she was everywhere doing everything, bein the toast of the town. ....& so, she flashed in my pan & was gone. Idiot moi! Norah Jones, with whom i'm playing catch up...is one Talented young Lady, well versed in the history of the music she knows & loves so well. (thats always a plus w/me). She surrounds herself with talented musicians & can seemingly master any style she takes on, without losing her signasture sound.

Yes, I've seen her in concert (on TV) and on Live from Abby Road. She takes on a lot more styles than you would have guessed. She was one of my daughter's favorites awhile back.

These tracks are nice reminders, since I too have not listened to her much in quite awhile.

Sweet! I, too, have kind of written her off, but the girl does have some lovely pipes.

You will hear a LOT of Norah over the next year or so.  The new album's gonna get a big push and there'll be much touring behind it.  I know a couple of guys that will be in the touring band and they're pretty awesome as well.  I haven't heard anything yet, but there's a lot of excitement.

After seeing Norah a bunch over the years, I actually worked with her on that 2002 tour for a great night.  KCRW had her, Beth Orton, Aimee Man, Zero 7, Kinky, Beck and others on the bill.  Besides the music, she was great to hang with.

@ Robin,  D'oh!  there's something in me that pushes back when someone gets the "big Push".  Thats sorta why i missed her talents the first time around.  That is why I was slow to catch on to The White Stripes.  Something in me (maybe because i recall the crass commercialization of R&R in the late sixties early seventies so well)...I usually shun the "flavor of the month" band/artist. (I still don't understand the hysteria over Amy Winehouse).

    But thats me

She tries to keep her fame in perspective..maybe having a famous dad helped. Not a huge fan of the music, but definitely a huge fan of the way she keeps it "real."

I got no problem with Amy W.'s music..The Push + her 'tude is not a plus however. It isn't all her fault, but some folks get screwed by fame and  by their own publicists. They end up screwing themselves. See Kurt Cobain and many more.
