WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

What Are You Mumblin' About, Bo?

Posted 2 months ago

Of all the early rockers, Bo Diddley was perhaps the most primitive, earthy, & real of them all. Elvis was almost(?) a caracature, Chuck Berry had a polished primitivism, a rockin style closely related to pop, Little Richard was willfully wild & gay, as unreal in fifties America as Beaver & Wally. Ah, but Bo brought it. & brought it & brought it. His relentless rhythms echoing the primitive beats of ageless roots, his boasting, preening, keening, witty, vicious, personna is as much Shaman as rock star, a precursor to George Clinton, if you will.

.......And yeah, I finally figured out this uploading thing! Thanks Rex.

The way he plays call and response with himself is zany.  Shame on me for not knowing about this stellar track before.

Welcome to the in.solit.us world, where music is stored, then launched upon unsuspecting Moggers. Now, what can I find that's appropriate for Toxic Tuesday? (Too bad I posted "If" by The Peter Moon Band a while back.) Oh wait, MOG only recognizes "Peter Moon"! Now what kind of picture goes with this over ripe Mango?

I love Bo, and Little Richard. But I'm not sure it's correct to list Little Richard and Beaver in the same sentence.

Bo was his own man all the way through. Had a chance to distribute his later efforts..a real restless mind. DIY to the maximum with the old, old, old school rhythms.
