Artist:

Track:
......A song that dates back to the early parts of the last century. Many assert the song chronicals the devestating effects of a major drought in the American southwest. (Sugar)Cane fields withered & dried & blew away.....And men & women were literaly starving to death in the streets.
....I don't know.......I've heard many people cover this song.....This is in my top three.

He does a great job with this. I never've actually heard him before, but read an article once that used him as an example of someone whose face is asymmetrical, in an article about scientific data linking the degree of one's facial symmetry with the age of losing one's virginity.
Perhaps not as unusual as an Earth sized comet hitting gas giant Jupiter, Mr. Lovett's version is a bit more colorfully detailed and depressingly paced than Mr. McGuinn's cover...that I was listening to just yesterday. We be raising cane, Jeffy!!
you have a very symmetrical face
Oh dag nab it..I have only The Band's version..I see about 20 versions..almost all by 70's guys. Does anyone know any archival versions?
Oh yes, I see it, Ernest Williams..a Texas tune. Makes sense that Lyle did her..Nice One.
I always thought of Spike as one of the Moggers with the broadest musical tastes. Yet he's hearing Bonnie Raitt and Lyle Lovett for the first time? Guess I missed some blind spots...
I like ROCK!
Janis Joplin did a killa version of this song too!
