ROCK N ROLL N AUTOMOBILES

Posted over 2 years ago

Chuck Berry, The One True King Of Rock & Roll, may have done more to connect the dots linking the emerging "rocknroll" music to both teenage concerns.......Girls & cars. His catalog bristles with great car songs. Arguably, the success of such hits as Maybelline, No Particular Place To Go, & others, was the inspiration to a veritable slew of Hot Rod Songs. (many of which were blatant rewrites of C. B.'s songs) in the late fifties & early sixties. Quite a few of these songs were in the sub-genre of Surf Music..... or Rockabilly Berry, if you will.

But through the years Rock (& ROLL) has produced many wonderful odes to the auto....please feel free to post any that you like in the comments......there's at least three slewss and three quarters of a shebang to choose from, so feel free

Gee, I always wanted a bone-mobile as a teenager, to replace the masturbation-mobile.

    Well, I was then...now I'm just another middle-aged guy - I don't get a lot of sex, but I don't care that much.

Hey, I can play this game. I upped 4 tunes last night at home Jeff, but the radiator blew before I could finish. Here's one (for Mark?) for now. Grab the gearshift...

    Not exactly Rock or Roll)..

One of Chuck's peer group below. I 'spose the auto kinda put the train song out o' business

I'll close with an all time fave weepie..

I'm not really a car person, although I've sure spent enough time in 'em driving around the country. For me cars were always for leaving, not for going..functional was what mattered.  I guess that's why I'm drawn to theses less than heroic odes to autos.

    Told ya I had more...

Vince Taylor-Brand New Cadillac, Clas or orig? Ya don't hear this one often.

Wreckless Eric & Amy Rigby-Astrovan, hey, they aren't all glorious odes to power and beauty now!

Wizzard-Brand New '88, Roy and the boyz tried like hell to find an existant diner.

Presidents of the United States of America-Mach 5, fictional, animated cars count...right?

    T. Rex-Jeepster, analogizing the sturdy, dependable and fun as a sexual lure. Don't think anyone but Bolan would have even tried to get away with this.

    Thanks for a great  post!!
