Poor Poor Pitiful Warren. (Live Music Is Better)

Posted over 4 years ago
**Warren Zevon** , one of the "distant fallen angels that descended much too soon. His live shows were always a trip, although there were times when his substance abuse messed things up. I saw him a few times at Lupo's in Providence RI and he was entertaining, enervating, caustically insightful and funny. A vicious wit and a droll delivery , coupled with his great songs and inspired covers, always made for a great time.

  3. Paul Busch says Warren....I loved the man! Saw him in NYC at the top of his game.around 1980 at the Palladium....and saw him in a small pub in Sydney, The Bridge Hotel, in 1992. Somehow I missed his tour with Little River Band in 1990.....I think it was intentional. If you get the chance, pick up his Preludes: Rare and Unreleased Recordings....has some great alternate versions and a fantastic interview. Back to work here....it's Monday AM in Sydney... Paul

  4. allenblakecassady says werewolves of london wooooooo great tune around a campfire... anyways, I've heard better covers of this song... something about his phrasing and vibrato seemed lacking fluid movements

  5. dermahrk says In his later career did he tour without a backup band? This sounds like a solo performance. So many of my faves do solo shows and I suspect it's for the economy and simplicity, even though I much prefer to see them with a band (Marshall Crenshaw springs immediately to mind).
