   zarpex says I personally consider Dr. Seuss the single greatest poet who ever breathed air, followed by Shakespeare, Donne, Keats and Stevens. Nabokov, who treated most fellow writers with outspoken contempt, worshiped him, and the influence of Seuss on his poetry is unmistakable (from the "Wanted" poem in ??Lolita??: "Dying, dying, Dolores Haze/ Of hate and remorse I am dying/ And again my hairy fist I raise/ And again I hear you crying"). I certainly wouldn't want his poetry to be treated with, say, a grave, scholarly recitation from a podium, but if they'd at least adhered to the correct text here (which would not, I think, have been especially difficult) I'd have liked it a lot more. Sorry to be a crab...
