THERE'S BATTLE LINES BEIN' DRAWN..........

.....There's something happening here......The Grassroots opposition to Obamacare is scaring the bejesus out of the left wing of The Democrat Party. As Congress is in recess Senators & Representatives are finding hostile resistance to Obamacare throughout a broad swath of the body politic. In state after state, "town meeting" after town meeting, the people are letting their voices be heard. The left is shocked & stunned that their tactics are being used so successfully against them. And the reaction of the current administration & the party he serves has been down-right chilling. Charges of staging events & flooding audiences with like minded supporters, bent on being heard, are being intoned in media blitzes & by administration officials. In their narrative, it is not a broad-based centrist support across a wide demographic, It is not a grassroots movement at all, its being financed & stoked by "extremist republicans", This flies in the face of all the evidence but its their story & the kool-aid drinkers are buyin it. But just for shits n giggles...lets pretend they're right. SO FUCKING WHAT? The right to protest is a bedrock civil right. The left has no problems with Anti-war protests, Abortion rights protests, Anti-Bush protests (Widely known to be financed by Moveon.org & Geirge soros, but how cared, right?).....Any kind of protest that remains within the rigid groupthink of the left. But now they're scared, and with very good reason. .....The Tea Party Movement, scorned & belittled by the lilliputians, gathers adherents daily, websites & blogsites are spreading the word. The current administration knows that more people will have more time to read the fine print & the bold print in the alleged "Healthcare Reform Package"......Like forcing all hospitals....regardless of religious affiliation...(religious hospitals make up 7 of the top ten in the USA)..to perform abortions...ALL of them have announced they will cease operations altogether before they'll perform abortions. The people understand the lie behind the bill of goods they're being sold. & they're speaking up. I once opined, in this very forum, that the feared "Military Industrial Complex" will prove to be nothing compared to the unholy unallience of the politico-infotainment industrial complex. And i was told then, by a man i've come to appreciate as a (pain in the ass) friend, and i quote.."That's crazy talk, jeff". For people who get their news from televison's big three.... .....The Global Warming Debate is over....all thats left is to figure out what 2 do about it. ....Republicans caused the current economic malaise ......Cash for Clunkers is genius economics. ......Sonia Sotomayor(?) didn't lie through her teeth through her confirmation hearings, she clarified her positions. ......Republican extremists are cleverly manipulating their toothless, bible-thumping followers to make it appear as though there is NOT broad-based support for more government interference in their affairs. ...These are frightening times, fellow babies....keep your eyes wide.
...Oh yeah...King Crimson...yes I know buddy....they're PROG. but i like 'em anyway. LOL

I'm not scared..scarred but not scared. Hey when 500,000 or a million people get up and march against health care that'll be something..grass roots or not, what's happening at the town meetings is nothing close to a movement. Bring it on..

......so...you contend there is broad-based support? Yeah, show me the evidence.
Broad based support doesn't equal town meeting complaints issued by 100 or less people. So, yes I contend that there is not broad based anti-health care bill support.
Even if there were broad based anti-health care demonstrations of a large magnitude it would not change my mind as far as supporting health care reform.
Compelling reasons might change my mind, but they would have to be really compelling, because I helped elect a president who said he would reform healthcare. I am pro healthcare reform, that is what I want (along with a large, diverse cross section of Americans).
I am also pro-people speaking their mind. So if folks want to go to the meetings and complain, go for it. I guess what I'm saying, is that I acknowledge that the folks are there, they have the right to be there, and god bless them. Do I think they are wrong...yes!
Do I think the bill that emerges from Washington will fall far short of what is needed..yes!(And it will mostly be the healthcare/pharma lobby that is responsible for that). For me though, it will be a step in the right direction.
I'd actually rather not argue about who's behind the protests or about how many protesters there are. I want to argue about healthcare itself, not the political points either side is scoring with their various strategies.
Also, these are not really frightening times for me or our union. The country is beginning to climb out the recession (as it pretty much always does)...it is, after all, a strong country that has been through worse times than these.
From where I sit your existing health system scares me.I also think when Cody b says its a step in the right direction shouldnt that be left ?Im going to sit here in "EXILES" cause my pockets arent deep enough to risk getting sick over there.Oh yea King Crimson whos ever tried Larks Tongues in Aspic?
