WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

IT BEARS REPEATING

.....and some things never change. Once there was a way to get back homeward.....Boy you're gonna carry that weight a long time.

My Son & His Wife & My Grandson came to town yesterday & I met Jonah Danger for the first time. He's nine months old & loves to smile & laugh and grab at grandpa's moustache. But I am so thoroughly enjopying the obvious pleasure these two young people have in being parents. This child is growing bathed in love.

Some of you younger MOGgers are years & years from being grandparents, and some are not parents yet. But some of us are & I think all we grandparents here would attest to the bittersweet feeling, the sublime melancholia of watching the newest generation bloom & blossom as we ourselves hear the distant (we hope) footsteps of father time slowly gaining on us. We marvel & wonder at the changes we've seen in our lives, & look ahead with amazed trepidation at what may lie in their futures, knowing we will not see it all with them.

".....Is our hope in walnut shells worn round the neck with temple bells? Or deep within some cloistered walls where hooded figures pray in halls? Or in old books on dusty shelves? Or in our stars? Or in ourselves? Who will Answer?"

.........not I.

....This morning, Thursday, My youngest Child will fly in from N.C. & the circle will be complete. We gather this day for gab-fest & laughs...This evening for a treasured family favorite meal. Come Saturday we have friends & family from far & wide comin for a party & a half. .....

.....as usual lately, I started typin this before I selected any music....so let's see....

Stroll on through your own little slice of heaven there Jeff. My grandson is now 4 yrs, and I attended the obligatory fireworks display with him on Friday last. He raced around with sparklers and introduced me to his cute little 3 yr old girlfriend...he called her "one of more", so I think he's off on a good foot!
    Have a great time pal!!

I bet you make an awesome grandfather, Jeff!

Enjoy your family evenings. Now that I don't live in Greece anymore, every time I go back there, I realize how important they are.

@ Scotty....Man,  there's nothing to compare to the infectious enthusiasm & unalloyed love of a grandchild.

Anna...so kind of you to say so....I try & I'm very proud of my relationship with all my children.  I wasn't sure sometimes if we would survive their teenage years.  But we made it through the storms & now we enjoy each other's company immensely.

DM, your spawn are lucky to have such a family kind of guy like you to preside over get-togethers like this.  Our son is getting married this fall, so maybe someday I'll be a family elder.

Ah well, DM a little bit of deep pleasure in the pleasures of family. When I was younger, I was adamant I did not want kids. Now, I'd probably make a decent grandfather but will never know... Of course, for some time in my allegedly adult years I wan't good husband or father material. Enjoy, friend!

No grand kids yet- probably about 3-4 years away, if our daughter doesn't hand us any suprises before hand. Have a great time with yours!
