WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Well. A Tribute Then.

    The Corrs w/Ron Wood
  • Album:
    Live In Dublin
  • Track:
    Little Wing*
Jimi's **little Wing** is a priceless little gem of a song. Beautiful and delicate in it's original incarnation, **Eric Clapton & Duane Allman** transformed it's beauty into the language of breaking hearts and blistering guitar attacks. Thus the song has become a guitarist's showpiece. But its a shame 'cause the song itself is so beautiful, so entrancing. The Corrs take on this song and return to the lyric itself to drive home the song's poignant nature. Ron Wood is on hand for those who still need that guitar fix.In many ways this is my favorite version of this song.

  1. deadmandeadman says "this":http://www.nypost.com/seven/01132008/gossip/cindy/why_did_i_even_cross_this_road__581941.htm is not related in any way to this post or comments. But its funny as hell, have a laugh.

  2. Bartleby says I've seen The Corrs live (free tickets) I must say those people are truly impressive musicians. - For other reasons, my favourite is still Jimi's

  3. mmars says If you want to listen to this on Rhapsody it's on the album "VH1 Presents the Corrs Live in London" and it's titled "Little Wing." Whether or not either of those titles is correct is anbody's guess. Never rely on Rhapsody for that. Anyway, yeah, it's a very gorgeous song. Thanks

  4. deadmandeadman says mmars, thanks but I purposely bypass Rhapsody so everyone can listen in (Including those outside the U. S.)

  5. Spike says I love it when an act comes up with a radically different approach to a hit, and it works as well as this does. Great as Wood's solo is, it makes this version less audacious.

  6. deadmandeadman says True enough Spike. Wood's solo messes with the etheral sound, grounds it .

  7. dansemcabre says I heard this before in some store in a mall somewhere there was this slow burn of realization I think the song was half way over before I realised I had heard it before then it was almost over when I remembered where. as a guitarist I gotta like jimi's version (it's in the rules) But this takes the song to a diffrent level good post.

  9. Spike says DM, you renegade you. What's with it with you and these art photos that mess with my head? Okay, in the foreground I see the delivery system. The wallpaper is vertical as it should be, even though the design makes it look curved. But on the left is the bottom of a...shelf attached to the wall? No wait, it's a cabinet that normally belongs on the floor, but here it's overhanging some other unseen cabinet or shelving that it's resting on. Dylan should fall backward head first but is held up by some round dark stool?

  12. RSchaut says As Bartleby says, great minds. I just posted a link to the video earlier today. I do have to add a couple cents worth on various covers, though. I'm rather partial to Sting's version due entirely to Branford's solo. Ethereal is the word that comes to mind, and Branford just nails it.

  13. deadmandeadman says Yeah, I checked out uor vid. Cool. I'd never seen it before. I'm a fan of Ronnie Wood, the Corrs snuck into my collection on his coattails but soon their Bona Fides shone through and they became favs. (Another among millions LOL)

  15. dermahrk says You know, though you claim to be more of an independent thinker than a Republican, observe your choice of smoking accessory. Could this mean that what you say cannot, in fact, be trusted? Perhaps you really hate football and are just fakin' it too. Nice solo by Ron. I'm not familiar enough with his solo material, and am never really sure who's playing what in the Stones. This is a nice education. But *JEEZ*! A post about the Corrs and you put up pictures of your den. Disappointing!
